Fulfilled

The Power of a Promise Kept (Advent 2024)

The pain brought on by broken promises reminds us of the power of a promise kept. Jesus’ coming fulfills many Old Testament promises. This Advent, we’ll explore some of them to appreciate the salvation and security we have in Christ. We will also learn how to apply His promise-keeping ways to our lives and relationships.

Bookmarks are available at the Welcome Center with our sermon series title. On the back is a list of our Advent messages and a reading guide. Feel free to pick up an extra bookmark and invite a friend!
A New Bible Reading Plan starts on Monday, December 2 and goes through Christmas Eve as part of our Fulfilled sermon series. This reading plan will be Monday - Friday and cover the passages used in Sundays' messages and related Bible texts.

You can have accountability and connect with others in our congregation by signing up for a texting group. The groups will consist of approximately 5 people texting each other their thoughts and impressions of the passage that was read. Sign up below or let April Beaver know you would like to be part of the plan.

Advent Message Schedule

December 1 - Promise of Intercession
John 11:49-52; Hebrews 4:14-16
In the Old Testament, there was a barrier between God and His people. Priests stood in the barrier, interceding for the people. Jesus removed that barrier by becoming our intercessor and providing full access directly to God.

December 8 - Promise of Justice
Isaiah 9:6,7; Matthew 2:3-6; Luke 1:31-33
Israel looked forward to the fulfillment of a King who would rule justly. Jesus’ coming fulfilled that promise, though not in the way they were expecting. He fulfilled the requirements of justice in coming to bear our sins.

December 15 - Promise of Redemption
3:14-15; Luke 1:67-75
Jesus came to the cradle with the cross in view. He fulfilled the promise to restore the relationship with the Father through forgiveness and redemption.

December 22 - Promise of Immanuel
Isaiah 7:10-17; Matthew 1:20-23
Jesus coming addresses the heart’s longing for God’s presence in the circumstances of daily life, a presence that is not passive but active in providing assurance and guidance for life’s journey.

December 24 (Christmas Eve 4, 6, & 11 PM) - Promise of Peace
Micah 5:2-5; Luke 2:8-14; Colossians 1:17
Jesus’ coming fulfills the promise of a Shepherd who provides peace/shalom. He holds all things together in a way that provides wholeness and serenity as we live in anticipation of His second coming.
