September 11 Church Update...
First Reformed Church Family:
Today, in an emergency meeting of the Consistory's Executive Committee, our church officers made the heartbreaking decision to suspend all in-person ministries at FRCOC through the next two weeks.
This was a grievous decision for the church leadership, especially now, at the beginning of the programming year. Kickoff Sunday is always a transformative moment, and we realize many of you have worked very hard to prepare music, lessons, and teachings for just this time. Sadly, we will have to wait a few more weeks to experience these shared activities.
Friends, please understand that this decision was not made in a panic nor without a great deal of thought. It was made prayerfully and with keen attention to our present public health context.
Right now, COVID-19 is spreading quickly through Orange City. Out of an abundance of caution, we feel it is best to take a pause from gathering in order to do our part to keep our town safer.
Additionally, we need some space to sufficiently plan and staff the ministries that are so valued in our community. Both Pastor Mark and I (Pastor Tim) are ourselves presently in quarantine and would be unable to participate this weekend.
We would welcome any questions that you may have. And we ask grace for the fact that we don't have all the answers you may desire.
The video below should provide you with more information. Please share it with others who may need to know.
In Christ,
Pastor Tim
