Volunteer with the Bridges After-School Program

A snack, a game, a word of encouragement—small acts of care can help young readers feel welcome and supported.

Bridges brings First Reformed Church, Northwestern College, and MOC-Floyd Valley Community School District together to support first- and second-grade students as they build reading skills, confidence, and relationships. Northwestern College tutors provide reading instruction, and FRC helps create a warm, welcoming place for students to learn and grow.

You can help! Choose the dates and opportunities that work best for you. You don’t have to commit to every week.

The program meets Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:30–4:45 PM.

• Bring snacks: Provide and deliver a snack for students before 3:30 PM.
• Help with activities: Join students for reading, games, activities, and encouragement from 3:30–4:45 PM.
• Help with student drop-off: Ride along to help students get home safely. Drop-off typically takes place from 4:45–5:30 PM.
